The Common Core Standards is yet another blunder to educating students. I've seen the implementation of the Common Core in a school where administration scrabbled to get teachers the ground work to teach it within a few months prior to the first day of school. They were supposed to follow the standards but had no material required to teach it. The few books that were in the Media Center were just not enough to accommodate the many classrooms that were expected to teach the standards that were so unfamiliar.
While states wavier back and fourth with using the Common Core Standards, students are the ones suffering and in certain communities they are set back, even further! Where new text books are rare, how can states expect poverty ridden communities to gain any momentum when administrators pressure teachers to expel new unfamiliar standards in a matter of weeks.
I do believe that education needs structure but it should be top educators and administrator with proven results creating that structure. Educating our students should not be about federal funding or political gain. Parental involvement has to increase if students are to be successful with an educational system that is rickety and lacking equality.

I could not agree with you more. These tests are a set up for some children. It's time for the politics to come out of the school!
